Kindred Continuing Care Hospital Prototype
Flexible Prototype Hospital
The Kindred Continuing Care Hospital is a prototype that can be used to test new sites and locations. It has been designed with a “plug and play” mindset that allows it to accommodate multiple configurations of Inpatient Rehabilitation, Transitional Care, and Long-Term Acute Care services. Features include a newsroom/cafe, lots of natural light, separation of patient and staff circulation, separate entrances for separate services, a focus on healing, and an emphasis on rehabilitation spaces so that the healing process is visible and inspiring. Social spaces are also key to the design and are featured throughout. The general prototype is a 120-bed facility on an 8.5 acre site, but it is flexible to accommodate different sites and various bed configurations.
